Your Privacy, Explained

A version of our privacy policy written for the children who use Kibu. Required by the ICO Children's Code, which says information must be presented in a way children can actually understand — and by the EU's rules on protecting minors online.

Kibu keeps some things about you, like your name and the missions you finish. This page tells you what we keep, and why.
If anything here is confusing, ask your grown-up. They can always ask us too.
What Kibu knows about you
- Your name and your birthday. Your grown-up told us those.
- The username and secret PIN you picked.
- Your missions, your points, your level, and your badges.
- Photos you take for your missions.
- Messages you send to your family in Kibu.
- Your Kibu character, and posts you make if you are in Kibu Club.
About your photo
When you made your Kibu character, you took a photo of your face. A computer used it to draw your cartoon.
Then we deleted the photo. We do not keep it. Only the cartoon stays.
If you want a new cartoon one day, you just take a new photo.
Who can see your things
- Your grown-ups in your family can see your missions and your messages. That is how Kibu works — they help you.
- If you are in Kibu Club, friends you have added can see your cartoon, your username, your level, and posts you share.
- Your friends can NOT see your real name, your birthday, or where you live. We never tell them.
- Nobody on the internet can see your posts. Kibu is not that kind of app.
- People you do not know cannot message you. Only your family can message you.
Kibu's rules
- Be kind. Say things you would say to someone's face.
- Never share your real name, your school, where you live, or your phone number. Not even with a friend in Kibu.
- Only post photos of yourself or your own things.
- If someone asks to meet you, or asks you to chat in a different app, do not answer. Tell your grown-up straight away.
If something feels wrong
If you see something that upsets you, or someone is unkind, you can tell us. Tap the post, then tap Report. It only takes a second.
The person will not know it was you.
Then tell your grown-up too. You are never in trouble for telling.
Things you are allowed to do
- Ask your grown-up to show you everything Kibu keeps about you.
- Delete a post you made.
- Ask your grown-up to delete your whole account. Then it is gone.
- Say no to Kibu Club and just use the missions.
Our promises to you
- We will never show you adverts.
- We will never sell anything about you to anyone.
- We will never let a stranger message you.
- We check posts before other children see them, to keep Kibu a kind place.
- If we want to change any of this, we ask your grown-up first.

Kibu is a family app used by parents and by children. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you control it. Because most of our users are children, we hold ourselves to children's privacy rules everywhere we operate — not only where the law compels it.

Children's Privacy Policy
This is the notice required by the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and it also serves as our children's privacy statement for the United Kingdom, the European Union, Saudi Arabia and the US states with children's design codes. It sits alongside our main Privacy Policy and, where the two differ, this one governs anything to do with a child.

Kibu asks for your consent separately for each thing we want to do with your child's information, so that agreeing to one never silently agrees to another. This page holds the full text of every consent we ask for. Each is the notice referenced by the corresponding checkbox in the app.
