Community Guidelines and Content Moderation Policy

Version 1.0.0-draftEffective 16 August 2026Updated 15 August 2026

What is allowed on Kibu, how we check, what happens when something breaks the rules, and how to report it. This is a safety document as much as a legal one — it exists because children can see what other children post.

1. Who this is for

These rules apply to everything a child shares on Kibu — post captions, post photographs, mission photographs, usernames, avatar descriptions and family messages — and to everything a parent writes.

There is a version written for children at getkibu.com/privacy-for-kids. Parents are responsible for what happens on their family's profiles, and we expect them to read this.

2. What is not allowed

  • Anything sexual involving a child. This is the most serious rule on Kibu and we report it to the authorities.
  • Nudity, sexual content, or sexually suggestive posing of any kind.
  • Violence, gore, threats, or content encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
  • Bullying, harassment, insults, or content designed to humiliate another child.
  • Hate speech, or attacking anyone for who they are.
  • Sharing personal details — a full name, school, home address, phone number, email, or any other way to find someone offline. This applies to your own details as well as anyone else's.
  • Photographs of other people's children without their family's agreement.
  • Asking another child to move the conversation to another app, or to meet in person.
  • Pretending to be someone else, or an adult using a child profile.
  • Anything illegal, and anything promoting alcohol, drugs, gambling, weapons or tobacco.
  • Advertising, selling, or promoting anything.
  • Attempting to get around our safety checks.

3. How we check

We check before anyone else sees it, not after.

Text — every caption, username and avatar description is screened automatically before it is published. If the check cannot run, we refuse to publish rather than publishing unchecked.

Images — every photograph is classified automatically before it is published, and checked against known illegal-content databases.

Generated avatars are checked after generation, before they are shown to anyone.

Automated checks are imperfect in both directions. If we wrongly blocked something, tell us and a person will look at it.

4. Reporting something

Any child or parent can report any post from the post itself. Reporting is always available, takes a few seconds, and never tells the person you reported them.

A parent can also email [email protected] or call +966 53 020 220.

Type of reportWe aim to respond within
Suspected child sexual abuse materialImmediately — content removed on sight, escalated the same hour
Risk of immediate harm to a child24 hours
Bullying, harassment, contact attempts48 hours
Everything else72 hours

5. What we do about it

We tell you what we decided and why. If you disagree, you can appeal by replying to that message, and a different reviewer will look at it. We aim to answer an appeal within 14 days.

  • Remove the content and tell the child's parent what happened and why.
  • For repeated or serious breaches, suspend the child's social features while keeping the rest of their account.
  • For the most serious breaches, close the account.
  • Where a child appears to be at risk, contact the parent directly and, where necessary, the authorities.

6. Child sexual abuse material

We treat this separately from everything else. Suspected material is removed immediately, preserved as evidence in a restricted store that ordinary staff cannot reach, and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to the relevant authority in the jurisdictions where we operate, as the law requires.

We do not notify the account holder in advance where doing so would prejudice an investigation.

7. Safety built into how Kibu works

  • Children cannot message anyone outside their own family.
  • Children can only be found by their exact username. There is no browsing, no suggested-friends list, and no way to discover a child you do not already know.
  • Every friendship needs a parent's approval.
  • Social features are off until a parent turns them on.
  • There is no public feed. Nothing a child posts is visible to the internet.
  • There are no adults on the child side of Kibu other than a child's own parents.
  • No advertising, no sponsored content, no recommendation engine pushing content at children.

8. How we keep this current

We carry out a children's risk assessment at least annually and whenever we change how children can interact, we record what we found, and we adjust these rules and our checks accordingly. It is reviewed by our Privacy Owner.

We publish how many reports we received, how quickly we acted, and what we did, at getkibu.com/transparency.
